Bill Analysis

HB 148 would raise the indictment limitation period for felony assault that classifies as dating or family violence from three years to five years. Continuous violence against the family would also have a five-year limitation. The bill would increase the limitation period for misdemeanor assault that classifies as dating or family violence from two years to three years.

Vote Recommendation Notes

The changes proposed by this legislation do not appear to be disproportionate to the offenses, therefore Texas Action is neutral on HB 148.
