Relating to the storage of firearms and ammunition in the same locked location in certain foster homes.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 1387 would revise the firearms storage requirements pertaining to foster homes. This would allow more flexibility in the way that firearms and ammunition are safely stored in such homes.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 1387 correctly gives foster parents the ability to determine how to safely and properly store their firearms within their own homes. This may also serve to expand the pool of available foster families by removing an obstacle that may currently prevent some from choosing to foster. Texas Action supports HB 1387.
