Bill Analysis

HB 1281 would allow golf cart operators to drive on roads with a posted speed limit of not more than 35mph in certain residential subdivisions without having a golf cart license plate. The Texas Department of Transportation would be able to prohibit the operation of golf carts on certain roads if it is deemed necessary in the interest of public safety.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 1281 which would uplift our individual liberty and limited government principles by allowing master-planned communities to set their own rules with respect to these types of vehicles.
