Bill Analysis

HB 1172 would prohibit the use of a polygraph examination in certain instances and would also require a peace officer to offer to have an advocate from a sexual assault program be present for an interview with an individual reporting sexual abuse. If no advocate is available, the peace officer is required to offer to have a crime victim liaison from the law enforcement agency present instead.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 1172 which is procedural or administrative in nature and does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles.
