Bill Analysis

HB 1062 would decrease the minimum age from 18 to 17 to serve in the Texas State Guard provided they meet certain eligibility requirements including having been emancipated by marriage, court order, or other operation of law; or who provide to the adjutant general written permission of a qualified parent or guardian.

Texas Action is supports HB 1062 which enhances individual liberty for the people who would become eligible to serve under the bill's provisions.
