Bill Analysis

SB 926 would allow a school district to transport any student enrolled at one of its schools regardless of where the student resides. Under current law, to transport students who live in another district, school districts are required to enter an interlocal agreement with the school district or county where the student resides in order to transport the student into the district where the student attends school.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting SB 926 because it promotes our principle of limited government. This bill would allow school districts to provide transportation for all of their students regardless of where they live, making it easier and more efficient to accommodate out-of-district students.
