Bill Analysis

SB 676 would allow for a parent that is in active military service to submit a copy of their orders or transfer to a military base as a form of residency to admit their children into a public school, provided that they provide a proof of residence within 10 days after the arrival date on their orders.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting SB 676 because it promotes limited government by reducing an administrative burden in the school enrollment process for people moving to Texas on military orders.
