Bill Caption

Relating to the operations and functions of the Veterans ’ Land Board and the sunset review date for and programs administered by the board.

Fiscal Notes

According to the Legislative Budget Board, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 607 would continue the responsibilities and functions of the Veteran's Land Board, and create training manuals for each member of the commission. The board would be required to develop and implement policies that clearly separate the policy-making responsibilities of the board and management responsibilities of the executive secretary, assistant executive secretary, and staff of the board.

As a constitutionally-created board, the VLB is subject to review but not abolishment under the Sunset Act.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on SB 607 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
