Relating to the requirement that certain participating institutions under the student loan program administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board provide loan debt information to students.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Currently, higher education institutions are required to provide each student with certain loan debt disclosures annually. SB 499 would clarify that these institutions are not required to include information regarding private loans in the annual student loan debt estimates.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 499 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
