Bill Caption

Relating to requirements for and municipal regulation of dogs in an outdoor dining area of a food service establishment.

Fiscal Notes

According to the Legislative Budget Board, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 476 would allow a food establishment to permit customers to bring a dog into an outdoor dining area under certain conditions and would prohibit municipal regulations that are more stringent than the bill. This bill would not apply to service animals.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting SB 476 because it promotes limited government, property rights, and free markets. This bill would preempt overly burdensome municipal regulations and give the food service establishment the choice to decide whether to allow dogs on the premises.
