Bill Analysis

SB 285 would require the governor to issue a proclamation each year before hurricane season, instructing: (1) property owners to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season; (2) state agencies to review and update their hurricane preparedness plans; and (3) municipalities and counties, among others, to conduct community outreach and education activities on hurricane preparedness. The General Land Office would also conduct a public information campaign each year before and during hurricane season to provide local officials and the public with information about housing assistance.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 285 as it does not effect our liberty principles.
