Bill Caption
Relating to the authority of certain municipalities to propose a
fire control, prevention, and emergency medical services district.
Fiscal Notes
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
SB 235 would allow the governing body of a municipality to propose the creation of a fire control, prevention, and emergency medical services district if the municipality has a population of 19,000 or more, and less than 60,000, and contains a campus of North Central Texas College. This would effectively allow the City of Corinth to dedicate a portion of sales tax revenue collected in the municipality to fund the district, subject to voter approval.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Texas Action remains neutral on SB 235 because it is a local bill that does not significantly affect our liberty principles.
