Bill Analysis

SB 232 would require school districts to notify parents or parental guardians of students in the ninth grade or above that students are not required to take Algebra II to graduate high school. The notification must also include the potential negative consequences of not taking Algebra II such as reducing chances for college admission or becoming ineligible to receive certain financial assistance. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 232 because it does not impact our principles.
