Bill Analysis

SB 2254 would alow the commissioners court in Fort Bend County to authorize the judges of the district courts and statutory county courts in Fort Bend County to appoint one or more magistrates to perform the duties authorized under the bill provisions, including setting and revoking bond, conducting examining trials, determining whether a defendant is indigent and appoint counsel for an indigent defendant, and issuing search and arrest warrants, among other things.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 2254 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
