Relating to the development and operation of an aerial cable car or
aerial tramway by a regional mobility authority created by a municipality.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 2248 would amend the Transportation Code in order to allow any state agency, in addition to all the other already allowed government entities, to make agreements with regional mobility authorities (RMAs). The bill would also allow RMAs to finance, acquire, construct and operate aerial cable car or tramway services. This bill's intent is to allow an RMA to enter into an agreement with the Texas Parks and Wildlife department to perform necessary engineering and construction work to re-open the Wyler Aerial Tramway in Franklin Mountains State Park, per the author's office.
Texas Action remains neutral on SB 2248 as it does not affect our liberty principles.
