Relating to the administration of the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Program.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 2202 would require the Texas Workforce Commission to submit a report every other year on the activities of the Jobs and Education (JET) for Texans Grant Program. Additionally, this bill would require the JET Grant Program to equally distribute grants across geographic areas of the state. SB 2202 would also allow independent school districts in rural areas with no nearby junior or technical colleges to receive grant money to provide career and technical training to students.
This bill addresses the administration of an existing grant program without growing the cost of the program. For these reasons we do not see a connection between this bill and our liberty principles. We remain neutral on SB 2202.
