Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 2140 would decrease the maximum civil penalty for a violation under the Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act from $20,000 to $10,000.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Reducing an excessive civil penalty is in alignment with limited government. We support SB 2140.
