Relating to taking sand, gravel, marl, shell, and mudshell from the San Jacinto River and its tributaries.

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 2126 would allow the San Jacinto River Authority and the Harris County Flood Control District to move sand, gravel, marl, shell, or mudshell from the San Jacinto River to restore, maintain, or expand the capacity of the river and its tributaries to convey storm flows. These entities would not be required to obtain a permit to take these materials nor would they be required to purchase the materials. These entities would be allowed to deposit the materials on private land.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral SB 2126 as it does not affect our liberty principles.
