SB 2086 would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), using existing resources, to consolidate each electronic or Internet portal operated or maintained by HHSC into a single Internet portal. HHSC shall ensure the single Internet portal meets the requirements of a portal described by other sections of code and allow for managed care organizations (MCOs) to connect with the portal. It would also require HHSC to implement a method that allows a provider to access the portal both directly and through a MCO's website.
Additionally, this bill would allow a provider in a MCO's network to continue to use a provider portal made available by the MCO that is interoperable with the single Internet portal or equivalent electronic system, rather than access the single Internet portal or equivalent electronic system directly.
