Bill Caption

Relating to payment for the use of a highway toll project.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 198 would require the Texas Department of Transportation to allow drivers to pay electronic tolls via automatic payment from their bank account. The bill would also create some new requirements regarding notices sent by toll entities to customers, such as the formats and circumstances under which they may be sent.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 198 for promoting the principle of individual liberty. SB 198 would give Texas drivers more choices in how to pay their tolls, and would require government tolling entities to ensure their notices are as clear as possible in what they are requesting.
