Relating to the timely filing of reports of political contributions and expenditures; increasing a criminal penalty.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 1874 would provide that a violation relating to the criminal offense of failure to report on time for certain political reports is a Class B misdemeanor if it is shown at trial that the person knowingly failed to file three or more consecutive reports on time. Currently, the offense is a Class C misdemeanor under all circumstances.
Texas Action remains neutral on SB 1874 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
