Bill Analysis

SB 1852 would remove the requirement that each policyholder on renewal of coverage of a standard health benefit plan, and each contract holder on renewal of enrollment in such plan, sign the required written disclosure concerning coverage that is provided by a health carrier or health maintenance organization (HMO) and return the statement to the health carrier or HMO.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1852 for promoting limited government principles. This bill would remove the unnecessary administrative burden on certain insurers to obtain policyholder signatures on the required disclosure statement for policy renewals.
