Relating to the payment of certain costs associated with certain programs of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1788 would allow for funds appropriated for student education at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) to be used to pay for costs associated with the educational programs for the campus's university-level students attending the Laredo Regional Campus and receiving clinical training in Webb County and the surrounding communities, including ground or air transportation, lodging, and related expenses.

Despite authorization to use appropriated funds for certain travel costs in each session's General Appropriations Act, UTHSCSA requires clear statutory authorization to use appropriated funds for this purpose.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 1788 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
