Bill Caption

Relating to reimbursement of rural hospitals under Medicaid.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The agency is required to implement a provision of this Act only if the legislature appropriates money specifically for that purpose. If the legislature does not appropriate money specifically for that purpose, the agency may, but is not required to, implement a provision of this Act using other appropriations available for that purpose.

Bill Analysis

SB 170 would codify existing policy to pay rural hospitals the actual and documented cost to treat Medicaid patients. The Health and Human Services Commission would be required to update the costs every other year.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on SB 170 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
