Bill Analysis
SB 117 would add post-secondary schools and "property owned by and under the control of the school or post-secondary educational institution on which an activity by the school is being conducted." It defines "post-secondary educational institution" as an institution of higher education or a private or independent
institution of higher education.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Texas Action supports SB 117 as it advances our principles of individual liberty and personal responsibility. The bill would remove ambiguity within the law and promote the rights of law abiding gun owners by clarifying certain the places where people are able to exercise their second amendment rights. We believe this bill advances individual liberties for gun owners, and for these reasons, we are supportive.
