Bill Caption

Relating to the payment of certain fees to municipalities by entities that provide telecommunications and cable or video services.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1152 would require a provider that provides telephone and cable over the same line using a municipality's right-of-way to pay a single fee. Currently, such a provider may be charged twice for use of a single right-of-way because the fees are duplicated in separate codes.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting SB 1152 because it promotes limited government by preventing municipalities from unfairly charging a provider twice for the same right-of-way.
