Bill Analysis

SB 1056 would clarify the conditions under which a physician may delegate to pharmacists the authority to implement or modify a patient's drug therapy, regardless of whether they practice in a hospital setting. This applies to pharmacists and physicians who have entered into a collaborative practice agreement.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1056 which is in line with the principles of limited government and free markets. The legislature should encourage the utilization of collaborative practice agreements in order to optimize patient outcomes, and reduce delays and healthcare costs.
