According to the Legislative Budget Board, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication. The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $177,289.
HJR 72 proposes a constitutional amendment to allow a person to hold more than one office as an elected or appointed municipal judge in more than one municipality at the same time. The purpose of this legislation is to allow smaller cities without enough qualified people to fill municipal judge positions to have elected municipal judges serve more than one city. (Appointed municipal judges may already do so.)
