Relating to the creation of the University of Houston College of Medicine at the University of Houston.
Estimated Two-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB 826, As Engrossed: an impact of $0 through the biennium ending August 31, 2021.
HB 826 would create the University of Houston College of Medicine at the University of Houston.
Technically this would grow government by expanding a state university. However, public universities are mandated by the Texas Constitution and are therefore a legitimate function of state government. We do not take a position on the creation of this new medical school but note that it may help to address the reported doctor shortage our state faces.
