Bill Analysis

HB 81 would require the receipt or expenditure of public or other funds by a governmental body for a parade, concert, or other entertainment event open to the general public and paid for in whole or part with public funds to be publicly disclosed. The bill would additionally prohibit any language in a contract for such an event that would prohibit the public disclosure of this information. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 81 for promoting the principle of limited government. This is a simple bill that will go a long way towards increasing transparency and accountability regarding the use of public funds.
