HB 81 would require the receipt or expenditure of public or other funds by a governmental body for a parade, concert, or other entertainment event open to the general public and paid for in whole or part with public funds to be publicly disclosed. The bill would additionally prohibit any language in a contract for such an event that would prohibit the public disclosure of this information.
Texas Action supports HB 81 for promoting the principle of limited government. This is a simple bill that will go a long way towards increasing transparency and accountability regarding the use of public funds.
