Bill Analysis

HB 770 would establish a settlement agreement database that would require the Office of Court Administration (OCA) to maintain records of personal injury or wrongful death suits concerning minors who are beneficiaries. These would specifically involve certain minors who have become incapacitated, or certain minors in on-going suits. The bill would authorize next of kin or legal guardians to access copies of any records that contain suit information. HB 770 would allow the OCA to a charge a fee to the guardian or friend requesting these records that would be no more than $50 dollars. Fees accrued from the requests for these records would be used to maintain the database.
