Bill Caption

Relating to the location at which an application for a disabled parking placard may be made.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Currently, an applicant for a disabled parking placard can only apply in the county in which they are seeking medical treatment if they are not residents of the state.

HB 643 would allow applications for disabled parking placards to be submitted or picked up in the county in which the applicant resides or is seeking medical treatment, regardless of whether they are residents of the state.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports this bill for promoting the principle of limited government. This bill would reduce the bureaucracy and burden on disabled individuals by preventing troublesome instances such as having to drive to a different county just to submit or pick up an application.
