No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 613 is a bracketed bill which would allow an independent school district located wholly in a county with a population of less than 20,000 to hold its board of trustees election on a uniform election date even if no other political subdivision  with which the district may have held a joint election is conducting an election.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill does not appear to affect our liberty principles and we remain neutral. We do note, however, that we have elsewhere this session supported legislation to require school districts to hold elections on the November uniform election date which we believe would create more transparency and efficiency in school district elections and naturally increase voter turnout.
