Relating to employment protections for a person serving as a grand juror.

Bill Analysis

HB 504 would prevent private employers from terminating permanent employees if they were found to have served as a grand juror. The bill would require an employee who was terminated to be entitled to return to the same job that they held when summoned for jury or grand jury service.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 504 as it advances the principle of personal responsibility. A citizen who is fulfilling their jury duty should not be punished by losing their employment.
