Relating to the confidentiality of the e-mail address of an applicant for or holder of a license issued by a state agency.

Bill Analysis

HB 3631 would require an email address provided by a person applying for or renewing an occupational license regulated by the Texas Department of Agriculture or the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to be subject to disclosure under the Texas Public Information Act.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action opposes HB 3631 which would infringe on the liberty of occupational license holders by making their email addresses subject to disclosure. We see no particular reason why a person's email address should be subject to public disclosure simply because the state requires them to have an occupational license.
