Bill Analysis

HB 3609 would repeal provisions of the Business & Commerce Code that require a corporation, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, limited liability company, or foreign filing entity to file a required assumed name certificate in the office or offices of each applicable county clerk. These entities are currently already required to file assumed name certificates at the state level.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 3609 which is in alignment with the principles of individual liberty and limited government. This bill would reduce unnecessary and duplicative paperwork which represents a government-imposed administrative burden on these types of businesses.
