Relating to the issuance of sickle cell disease awareness specialty
license plates.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 3394 would direct The Texas Department of Transportation to issue specialty license plates to promote sickle cell disease awareness, in consultation with the Sickle Cell Association of Houston. Revenue raised from the issuance fee for the plates would go to Texas Southern University to make grants to a nonprofit organizations that provide services to persons with sickle cell disease, following the deduction of administrative costs.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 3394 as it does not affect our liberty principles.
