Bill Analysis

HB 3174 would repeal a section of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission which prohibits alcoholic retailers from installing or maintaining a blind or barrier in the opening or door, painting the windows in a certain manner, or installing or maintaining an obstruction that prevents a clear view of the interior of a package store or wine-only package store.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 3174 for promoting the principles of limited government. This bill would repeal an unnecessary requirement which represents undue government interference in the affairs of private business owners. This would allow alcoholic beverage retailers to advertise and decorate their store windows as they see fit.
