Estimated Two-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB3008, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted: a negative impact of ($6,696) through the biennium ending August 31, 2021.

The bill would have an estimated negative General Revenue Fund impact of $37.7 million annually beginning in fiscal year 2022.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

Bill Analysis

HB 3008 would create a civic education project fund to provide money for educationally disadvantaged children in grades fourth or higher to complete a civic education project and to provide related professional development for educators. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

There is no question that civic education is important. We support civic education. However, we oppose creating an expensive new taxpayer-funded program to achieve something that should be done within existing resources. For these reasons we oppose HB 3008.
