Estimated Two-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB2824, Committee Report 1st House, Substituted: a negative impact of ($3,204,428) through the biennium ending August 31, 2021.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill

Bill Analysis

HB 2824 would reestablish a writing assessment pilot program that previously was created in 2015. The pilot program would be in effect through the 2022-2023 school year. The commissioner of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) would be required to create a committee to assist the TEA with the pilot program. Participating school districts would be prohibited from administering the normally required writing assessment while participating in the pilot program.
