Bill Caption
Relating to the creation of an alert system to notify affected persons of certain releases of water from certain dams.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
HB 26 would add requirements to the established safety alert system for notifying those
effected when a dam is to release water. The alert system would use existing state and federal systems (public
television, commercial television, radio, etc.) while also adding additional requirements for dam operators and for the Texas
Department of Transportation (TXDOT). The bill
would require dam operators to corporate with state agencies in establishing a
plan for the alert system.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Texas Action
remains neutral on HB 26. This bill does not violate any of our liberty principles. Updating and revising these policies does seem like appropriate public policy.
