Bill Analysis

HB 2588 would require the Texas Workforce Commission create a program to award grants to non-profits that facilitate the participation in training programs for veterans transitioning into employment.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Transitioning into the workforce for veterans can be difficult. There are many non-profits and federal programs that attempt to alleviate this difficulty. Providing funding to these non-profits is outside the core function of a limited government should be left up to other donation sources to offer aid to veterans transitioning to the workforce. Therefore, Texas Action opposes HB 2588.
