Bill Analysis

HB 2584 would allow certified code enforcement officers to carry a club for deterring animal bites if the officer holds a certificate of registration issued under the Occupations Code, and possesses or carries an instrument used specifically for deterring an animal bite while performing official duties or traveling to or from a place of duty. Existing education requirements must include principles and procedures to be followed when possessing or carrying such an instrument.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on HB 2584 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
