Relating to the award of grants by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee and to the payment of claims related to those grants by the comptroller of public accounts.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 2570 would extend the deadline for the payment of claims by the comptroller with respect to grants awarded by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee. It would authorize claims to be made not later than seven years after the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation from which the claim is to be paid. This is an increase from two years under current statute

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral on HB 2570 because it does not appear to affect our liberty principles. This bill would not spend more money; rather it merely extends the amount of time for which related appropriations may be paid out.
