Bill Caption

Relating to standing for an appeal to a municipal board of adjustment.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 2497 would amend the Local Government Code to make limitations to the qualifications necessary to appeal to a municipal board of adjustment regarding administrative decisions made to land development.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends to support HB 2497 on the basis of property rights. This would allow people actually affected by a municipal land use decision to appeal, but prevent outside people or entities from unnecessarily using the appeals process to shut down or delay a land development project.
