Bill Analysis

The cities of El Paso, Texas and Sunland Park, New Mexico are essentially the same community. Many people live in one city and work in the other. Sunland Park is nowhere near any major cities in its own state.

HB 2288 would allow the Housing Authority of El Paso to serve as the housing authority for Sunland Park. Importantly, this bill would not make Texans responsible for subsidizing housing for an out of state community.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on HB 2288 as it is a local bill which neither advances nor hinders any of our liberty principles.
