Bill Analysis

HB 2287 would allow a municipal housing authority to to be created and operate in El Paso.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Current statute already provides for a number of types of housing authorities including county, regional, merged, and municipal housing authorities. While we are concerned about the ability of these authorities to issue bond debt and therefore add to the overall local debt problem facing this state, we view expansion of the area where municipal housing authorities are allowed to be created and operate to be primarily a local issue. For these reasons we remain neutral on HB 2287.
