Bill Analysis

HB 2261 would increase the amount of money a physician can receive per year from the physician education loan repayment program.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends opposing HB 2261 because it violates our principle of limited government. Increasing payments of loan repayment programs drains the state of funds, increasing debt and the tax burden on taxpayers. It is not the proper role of the state to use taxpayer money to reimburse physicians for their student loans.
