Bill Analysis

HB 2195 would require school districts to include a policy on responding to an active shooter situation in its multihazard emergency operations plan. It would also require a school district peace officer or school resource officer to complete an active shooter response training program approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

Texas Action recommends supporting HB 2195 because it promotes our principle of limited government. This bill would help ensure that school districts are prepared for active shooter situations and would help keep students safe.
